Rogas Rogas Global Resources Ltd Liquefied Petroleum Gas (also called LPG, LP Gas, or autogas) is the term widely used to describe a family of light hydrocarbons called “gas liquids”. The most prominent members of this family are propane (C3H8) and butane (C4H10). Mixture of these hydrocarbon gases are used as fuel in cooking/heating appliances and vehicles. Furthermore LPG is increasingly replacing chlorofluorocarbons as aerosol propellants and refrigerants because they reduce damage to the ozone layer.
Rogas Global Resources Ltd LPG is colourless, odourless and heavier than air. A sulphur based chemical (ethyl mercaptan or ethanethiol) is added to give it a smell like rotten cabbage, so that even a very small leak can be easily detected.
Rogas Global Resources Ltd LPG (Butane and propane) has been formed over millions of years beneath the ground. LPG is manufactured by extraction from oil or gas streams as they emerge from the ground, or during the refining of crude oil.

When natural gas is drawn from the earth, it is a mixture of several gases and liquids. Methane sold by gas utilities worldwide as “Natural Gas” constitutes about 90 percent of this mixture. Of the remaining 10 percent, 5 percent is propane and 5 percent is other gases such as butane and ethane. Before natural gas can be transported or used, the LP Gases (which are slightly heavier than methane) are extracted.

LPG is also produced from crude oil at refineries. In crude oil refining the LP Gases are the first products extracted on the way to making the heavier fuels such as diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil, and gasoline or kerosine.
